Clan Petition

The Clan Petition is the original document submitted to create the Disciples of Hassan clan over 10 years ago. Most informations below are no longer accurate (references to Midgaard, for example), but it's still important to read it.

Clan Petition and Charter

It is a sunny day in Midgaard, as market square teems with unusual activity. Aardwolfians fill the streets in preparation of long awaited news. The clanking of metal armor and weapons is drowned by the many conversations and gossipings. A few minutes pass, and a sudden hush falls over the crowd as Hassan, the Temple Guardian emerges from his usual post. He strides with the dignity of a leader, a protector, one who has fought many battles to serve Midgaard and its citizens. He ascends a few steps to a wooden podium, surveys the crowd, and begins to speak...
"Greetings fellow citizens of Midgaard and of the world of Aardwolf!"

*Crowd cheers*

"I stand before you today the bearer of great news indeed. For ages untold I have stood guard in our fine city, watching young and old go before me. Our world has grown in those many years, and the improvements are vast and amazing all at once, for change is, and hopefully always will be a good thing. But alas, change also means that our youngsters have that much more to learn as they come into our world. Let us all think back to when we first arrived in Midgaard. How exciting and overwhelming it all seemed! Oh the many things we could do, the many places we could travel, and the oh so many questions we had! Now imagine beginning that all over again in our current world, with so much more to learn. This having been said, let me waste no more of your prescious time. It is my great pleasure to introduce two long time Aardwolfians, who seek to propose a system to ease these pressures on our youth, to give them a sense of community and an environment in which to grow. Vesuvius and Duhe, the podium now belongs to you!"

Vesuvius and Duhe ascend the podium, bowing reverently to the Temple Guardian. Vesuvius steps forward and begins to speak.

"Greetings fellow Aardwolfians. It is my great pleasure to introduce to you our proposal for the first Aardwolf novice guild, The Disciples of Hassan!"

The helpfile that you would use for the clan. This must fit in one screen when viewed online on the mud.
The first Aardwolf novice guild - Disciples of Hassan (-DoH-)  exists to give new players on Aardwolf who no longer have the newbie channel a place to have their questions answered, to find friends of similar experience, as well as to make friends with some of the more experienced, helpful players in Aardwolf. It will also give them a nice introduction to clan life to see if it is indeed for them. We encourage all newbies level 16 and up to join our ranks, as well as any more experienced players interested in helping out! If you are interested, please contact a clan leader via tells or the personal board.

The theme of the clan. Clans must have a theme which all members must follow.
This clan's intent is to give new players on Aardwolf who no longer have the newbie channel a place to have their questions answered, to find friends of similar experience, as well as to make friends with some of the more experienced, helpful players in Aardwolf. It will also give them a nice introduction to clan life to see if it is indeed for them. We will not be a raiding clan, although members may choose to participate in PK and raids as they see fit. The clan will be defended by guards in PK rooms - this will give newer players an introduction to PK and defending a clan hall. Defense of the clan hall by newbies is strictly voluntary. The interior of the clan will all be NON-PK rooms, so that we may all rest in the safety in our homes. We shall remain out of clan politics as much as possible. If and when someone successfully raids us it will not be considered the end of the world.

7 titles (max 20 characters each) for the titles of ranks within the clan. (7 is the highest).
Members will be classified in 2 manners - novices or advisors, each with 3 ranks:
Novice (Novice Rank)
Trainee (Novice Rank)
Initiate (Novice Rank)
Advisor (Advisor Rank)
Mentor (Advisor Rank)
Expert (Advisor Rank)
Sage (Leader Rank)

What a player would be required to do in order to join your clan. (Cannot be purely money based).

PLEASE read all notes on the personal and announce board before asking about something. More often than not there are already several notes on topics of interrest. For more information on this just type help note while logged onto Aardwolf.
Novice Applicants meeting this criteria should apply the clan on a note written on the personal board and posted to DoH . After 5 days, the applicant must contact an Inititiate for their first interview, second interview is by an Advisor - Expert and third interview is conducted by a Leader. Be sure all notes are addressed To: DoH  and on the personal board.

Requirements for Advisor Applicants:
A patient, friendly and helpful attitude. Must have fulfilled all requirements in the Advisor Guide to show that they have experienced all the level ranges, and are thus able to provide advice and help in all level ranges. Advisor applicants post a note to (-DoH-)  notifying the clan their wish to join should notify a clan leader of their wish to join, and must then pass interviews by 1 Initiate, 1 Advisor - Expert and 1 Leader in the clan. If accepted to the clan the applicant will get the Initiate rank first as it's a test rank to see if the applicant is suited to be an advisor.

What determines how and when a player can be promoted in your clan. (Cannot be purely money based).
Novices - Promotions may be awarded in special recognition of a member's devotion to the clan (helpfulness towards members, good ideas for the clan, outstanding donations, etc - although this is VERY rare). Standard/Automatic Promotions happen upon the following circumstances:
Novice to Trainee : Must have reached 2nd mort and donated no less than 300k gold. Trainee to Initiate : Must have reached 3rd mort and donated no less than 500k gold
Initiate to Advisor : Must be a minimum 3rd mort and donated no less than 2.5 mil gold. Also must have at least 1 month as Initiate and pass an Advisor Exam.

Under what circumstances someone can be demoted in your clan?
Novices - A demotion and corresponding loss of any future automatic promotions may occur for consistant rudeness and/or disrespect for other clan members, or Aardwolfians in general.
Advisors - Demotions may be handed out as mentioned above, or for consistent failure to perform the advisor job of being friendly, helpful members to the novices in the clan. Helpful doesn't include fidoing 100 potions upon every request however ... it means giving advice and answering questions in a timely manner on a fairly consistent basis. Leaders are included in this category.

Under what circumstances someone can be dropped from you clan completely? This cannot be for completely personal reasons, refer to info on 'Leaving a clan' to see why this is so important.
A Novice - Upon remorting, a novice(novice/trainee/initiate) member MUST either:
Outcast and find their way in Aardwolf if they do not wish to apply or fail the application for a higher rank in the clan. Post remort outcast fees should be under 100,000 gold (if done immediately) and may be paid by the leaders and advisors as a graduation present.
Apply for an evaluation as an Initiate for Advisorship in the clan. This requires the approval of a leader.
In other cases, repetitive infractions of the instances described in #8-Demotions may result in the outcast of a member. Breaking the clan rules described in #12 may also result in outcast.
Whether all decisions in your clan will be made by the leaders, or, all members on a vote basis.
The leaders will make all decisions jointly. While they may ask the clan for input, it is understood that they have the last word.

Will there be any align/class/race/language or other restrictions?
No.

Any other general rules that will exist in your clan.
All advisors/leaders are required to participate in clan defense. Novices may do so on a voluntary basis.
Clan items may not be given out or sold to people outside (-DoH-) .
Leaders may be removed from office should the other leaders and a 50% clan vote concur.
Other than that, we just ask that all members have fun!
